My weaknesses!
I freely admit to a sweet tooth—
for the early day’s rays
through the oak leaves.
spring rain in twilight,
and the rising fragrance from
dampened earth.
Please dish me out
a sparkling blanket of crystal-cut snow
before the light goes out…
Or, chirping ‘good-nights’
of August grasshoppers
in the lowering dusk across my field?
that’s all I wish for
as dessert.
